New Load of Hay!

A new load of Timothy hay arrived this week from NY. Due to all the rain, the farm was unable to cut a 2nd cutting this year, but this 1st cut is still very nice quality. The bales are 60+ pounds each, green, full of blossoms, and smell great.

Cool Season Grass

A mixture of oats and rye were seeded and fertilized today in both pastures. Weather permitting, the horses should have a little green to nibble on this winter.

08.15.08

The Dark Side

All the property fence is getting a new coat of darker stain. It should blend well with the new barn paint and the house.

08.02.08

Pasture Maintenance

It seems every year is a battle against the weeds! Today we sprayed a second dose of pasture-safe (no grazing restrictions) herbicide. Hopefully this will take care of the unwanted green latecomers!

Cut that Grass

Both pastures just received the royal grass mowing treatment. The mowing should encourage new growth and healthier grass. Now we just need RAIN!

06.20.08

Green Pastures

After obtaining new soil samples, appropriate fertilizer was spread on both pastures. Hopefully we will get rain to encourage new grass growth. Further applications are scheduled for late summer and early fall.

05.10.08

New Jumps!

The owners are currently in the process of constructing new arena jumps. These will include 5' standards, one 5' standard with wings, a gate jump, and new poles. After the treated wood has time to dry, the jumps will be stained and painted. New items should be added periodically.
