Lessons and training are available at your farm or mine. Adults and children of all ages welcome. Private, semi-private, and small group lessons available. A few show quality horses and ponies suitable for beginner through advanced riders are available for on-site lessons. Pony lessons are offered for young children. Haul-ins also welcome.

In our lesson curriculum, students will learn the feel and technique between correct equitation and functional riding. Each lesson focuses on building and mastering basic skills from the ground up. All riders will be introduced to safe horse handling, proper grooming, tacking, and lunging, as well as horse management. Riders then learn basic English and/or Western disciplines and master techniques through more advanced riding in Hunter Jumper, Reining, and/or Western Riding. Students practice various patterns, jumping courses, dressage tests, rail work, training exercises, and riding out on the trail, depending on individual goals and experience levels. All beginners are started on a lunge line. Certain basic skills must be proficient before students advance to the round pen and lastly, the arena. This teaching format gives students a confident, solid riding foundation.

The farm travels to local shows a few times a year. Students are welcome to participate on a lesson horse or their own. Show classes are available for all ages, levels, and disciplines. To further enhance your horse experience and education, you may want to consider joining (ages 7 to 18) or volunteering (ages 19 and over) with Maple Ridge Farm’s 4-H horse club. Leasing situations may also arise for students to practice learned skills in-between lessons. Please contact us for more information. A fee schedule is available upon request.
