Horseback Riding Lessons
Horseback riding lessons are available for all ages and levels in both english (hunt seat, hunter/jumper) and western (pleasure, reining, and trail) disciplines. Lessons are taught in a private, semi-private, or small group format on a weekly or every other week basis (currently Fridays and Saturdays). A few show quality horses and ponies are available for on-site clinics, lessons, leasing, and showing. Haul-ins also welcome. Pony lessons offered for children under age eight.
In our lesson curriculum, safety is of utmost importance. Students then learn the feel and technique between correct equitation and functional riding. Each lesson focuses on building and mastering basic skills from the ground up. All riders will be introduced to catching, leading, proper grooming, tacking, and lunging, as well as basic horse management. Beginner riders are started on a lunge line, then advance to the round pen and arena. This teaching format builds students' confidence and ensures they have a solid riding foundation.
After mastering the fundamentals of effective riding, students then begin more advanced riding in one of the specific disciplines listed above. Students practice various patterns, jumping courses, dressage tests, rail work, training exercises, and riding out on the trail, depending on each student's individual goals and experience level. To help set goals and gain as much experience as possible, students are encouraged to attend local shows (classes available for all levels of riders), lease a lesson horse (to practice skills learned between lessons), and participate in 4-H (great learning and leadership opportunity for ages 9 through 18).
A complete fee schedule is available upon request. Lesson prices range from $25 to 45 per lesson. Boarders and haul-ins riding their own horse(s) receive a small discount. Additional pictures of our lesson students can be seen in our photo gallery and on our Facebook page.
Clinics
A variety of clinics are now being offered for beginner through advanced riders, ages 10 through adult. Each participant will receive individual attention and maximum hands-on experience. Clinics are three hours in length and currently offered as filled. Please contact us for dates and availability. The cost is $100 per participant per clinic, which includes the use of one of our lesson horses.
Beginner I - This clinic is offered for complete beginners or those who want a thorough review of the basics or need a confidence boost. This clinic includes one hour of ground work (catching, ground manners, grooming, tying, saddling/bridling) and two hours working with the horses in the arena (leading, mounting/dismounting, helmet/stirrup fitting, basic equitation, cues, basic riding on a lunge line and/or in the round pen). Two to four participants. Each participant will be assigned a lesson horse, but will have the opportunity to work with each lesson horse used.
- Beginner II - This clinic is a continuation of Beginner I. Participants will spend more time under saddle and practice and learn new skills. Participants will continue to ride on the lunge line and may practice some steering in the round pen.

- Reining I - This clinic is offered for advanced riders interested in learning basic reining (discussion of basic maneuvers, practicing loping large and small circles, rectangles, fencing, spinning, learning to ride a sliding stop, counter cantering, simple lead changes and/or flying lead changes). Maximum of three participants. Each participant will be assigned a lesson horse. One hour will be spent before and after riding (including correct preparation of each horse and basic discussion of bits) and two hours will be spent under saddle (demonstration and practicing).
- Reining II - This clinic is a continuation of Reining I. Participants will advance on previously learned skills and learn the rollback, slow downs, and start putting maneuvers together.
