Listed below are short bios of the lesson horses at Maple Ridge Farm.
Breezin Lark (Breezy)
Breezy is a 12-year-old 15.2hh registered APHA gelding. He is used in beginner through intermediate western (pleasure, horsemanship, trail, and trail riding) lessons and has been shown locally in western walk/jog, trail, and leadline classes. Breezy is sensitive yet laid back, and does best with a balanced rider with a quiet seat and trained leg.
Guns R Boomin (Belle)
Belle is a 5-year-old 15hh registered AQHA mare. She is a nearly finished reining horse. She is used in intermediate and advanced western (pleasure and reining) lessons. She has been shown locally in western walk/jog, but excels at reining. Started hunter on the flat and over fences. She has a great sliding stop to learn on and waits well for cues from her rider. Rides best with a rider with soft hands and a balanced seat. Belle is available for lease.
Hickory's Buddy Row (Ben)
Ben is a 12-year-old 14.3hh registered AQHA gelding. He is the most gentle, quiet, and beginner-friendly horse you will ever meet. He is used primarily in beginner (lunge line, round pen, learning to lope, and learning to ride in the arena) lessons, but is also ridden by a few intermediate riders (rail work, patterns, and horsemanship). He is a great confidence booster. Ben does best when ridden with spurs and asked for headset, but he can also be ridden without spurs (must have a strong leg or crop).
Stuck on Go (Cookie)
Cookie is a 13-year-old 12.1hh POA mare. She has been shown successfully in small pony hunters for most of her career. Cookie is now used for beginner pony lessons (english and western) and beginner through advanced english hunt seat riders. Cookie is very sweet, gentle, and easy to be around. She is sensitive and has nice forward movement, but is also quiet and great with kids. Cookie is available for lease.
Ultimate Riding Machine (Beamer)
Beamer is a 14.1hh 7-year-old gelding. He is a finished reining horse and is used in advanced beginner through advanced western (reining, horsemanship, and trail) lessons. Started hunter on the flat. Has limited show experience. Beamer is a gentleman with great manners and an easy-going personality. He is very quiet and fun to ride. Does best with spurs (a trained leg to use spurs for collection). Beamer is available for lease.
West Coast Spirit (Breeze)
Breeze is a 15.1hh 9-year-old registered AQHA gelding. Fantastic all-around horse. He is a professionally trained finished reining horse with great bloodlines, and is used in beginner (english or western, primarily on lunge line) through advanced western (reining, horsemanship, and trail) lessons. Also does hunter on the flat (beautiful extended trot), equitation patters, and minimal jumping. He has been shown locally in western walk/jog, horsemanship, and trail classes and also in NRHA by non-pros (green, rookie, and youth) and professional riders. Breeze is very quiet and laid back yet "feely" (has lots of "buttons"). Must be ridden with spurs (a trained leg to use spurs for collection). He is fun to ride, very quiet, and very talented. Breeze is available for lease.
